What were the chances,
out of the blue,
you came back,
I mean wow,
been a long while,
somehow after all that,
this ticker of mine,
sure remembers that life,
from start to end,
do I miss it,
is a question I dare not ask,
out loud or to you,
as an old lover,
one words hikes out,
old,
not saying you have age a second,
far from it,
still remain the same,
but time matured you well,
eyes so wild and open,
color of space close to the sun,
dark but warming,
it was drove me,
those hands that were a shield to me,
thinned out,
a music maker you became,
lovely as a clarinet flaunt,
yet I remember,
you never held back a punch,
the lilies at the pond,
still brighten out your smile,
when we used to sit at the dock,
watching the stars pan above,
fireflies swooshing by,
a night like that,
something straight out of a romance novel,
but it was so real,
with you,
thinking of all that,
of that night alone,
it was a good one,
one that I hold dear,
more so even now,
I didn't think to ever see you again,
just so quickly,
we left on terms that were not bad,
but far from good,
nor was it fair,
but for one's safety,
not a moment after break-in,
I only wished I was stronger than,
keeping you and your siblings safety,
but what did I do,
crack jokes,
keep the door shut,
hoping the cops could make it,
I do what I can to keep the young ones quiet,
while you and your brother,
hide away in the closet,
I watch on with two others,
bearing away at the door,
you said then and now,
my face never changed,
it was straight face,
no care,
I held a knife in hand,
letting the tip of it tap against,
like my plus on my leg,
eyes still on door,
shoulder grazing yours,
keeping me level,
I thought of worst,
if I snapped and just end the banging of the doors,
got to end it,
I worry for others,
I gave crap for myself,
even at that time,
I had you,
I couldn't give a crap about myself,
if anything those around me,
I would be in a fragile state,
that blame goes on up bring,
pointless blame,
but my blame to shout out,
all of that came to be,
seeing you,
an old lover,
finding me in a safe place,
I never thought to see you,
jumping for joy and hugging me,
like I came back from war or something,
shock I was,
do I regret what came from it,
no,
never,
I smirk happily of all those tricks,
that came from those warm eyes,
how I missed it,
even if for only a day or two,
they are mine now,
lock tightly in my heart,
if knowing it would happen,
I would have sat down,
the books did need to fall on the ground,
not like that,
love like yours should never,
in thought,
should be like a horrible romance novel,
but damn it,
I'll toss all those clichés out the fucking window,
to live out this moment,
gladly so,
you're my old lover,
an old lover that keeps this ticker going,
like I have run around the world,
I could break at the speed of sound,
you got that strong of magic on me,
your an old lover,
if I ever see again,
hopefully soon,
you'll always be welcome,
just don't forget,
what made me love you,
from the start,
an old lover,
yeah,
I love you still.
